Meirion Owen & The Quack Pack

Meirion & The Quack Pack are delighted to return to the 2008 Royal Welsh Smallholder & Garden Festival.

Meirion with a lifelong interest in sheepdogs and training is the third generation to participate in sheep dog trials. He’s been competing in trials from an early age and has achieved considerable success in local, national and international competitions and is a former Champion of Wales.

His son, Iestyn who he hopes will follow the family footsteps will assist Meirion at the Show.

Meirion, his dogs and ducks appear regularly on TV and Radio. He travels extensively to demonstrate and has judged on the Continent, Canada, America and the United Kingdom.

Using a combination of word and whistle commands Meirion will guide his Border Collies named Tim, Rob, Jess and Glen to navigate the co-operative, and sometimes not so co-operative ‘Quack Pack’ around a course which includes tunnels, slides and pens.

The Indian Runner Ducks, which have an instant appeal with the audience and an endless amount of energy, are eager to please in every performance.

During his display, Meirion will encourage audience participation from children to adults, with a humorous, informative and educational commentary.

Listen out for the dog commands ‘Come Bye’, ‘Away’, ‘Stand’ and ‘Walk’.

Apart from working with his dogs Meirion is busy organising the ‘World Sheep Dog Championships’ that will be held in Wales at Dinefwr Park & Castle Grounds, Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire in September 2008.
