Miller's Ark Animals

The ‘Mobile Farm’ concept embraces the desire to bring children and adults into close contact with farm animals inspiring interest and respect, whilst providing an exciting experience in the security of their own environment.

The Mobile Farm includes sheep and lambs, goats and kids, piglets, miniature donkeys or ponies, rare breed poultry, giant chickens, ducks and geese with young in season and a hen and chicks.    The emphasis is on touching and feeding the animals to build confidence and awareness.   The welfare of the animals is paramount throughout and only those happy with a lot of attention are used.

Miller’s Ark Animals was established in 1991 by Elizabeth Miller B.A. Cantab, as an offshoot of her main farming business and has expanded steadily every since.

An integral part of Miller’s Ark is the programme of very popular demonstrations which take place regularly throughout the day and usually includes:

    Chick and Duckling Handling

    Pony and Donkey Grooming

Piglet bath time in hot weather

    Goat mountain talks

All these demonstrations are carried out by experienced farming people, who share their experiences and anecdotes with the public and place great emphasis on involving them hands-on throughout.

Miller’s Ark Animals will bring the sights, sounds and experience of the farmyard to the Festival.   Their selection of rare breeds and traditional animals will include some of the following:

    African Pygmy and Anglo-Nubian Goats

    Miniature Shetland Ponies

    Miniature and Standard Donkeys

Sheep – traditional and rare breeds

    Huge Brahma Chickens

    Pet Lambs

    Pet Kids

Ducks and Geese in their pond

    Tiny Bantam Hens

    Maori Kune Kune Piglets

Irish Moiled or Belted Galloway Calves

All the animals are home-bred, very friendly and well-used to children.
