Farmers market 2

The Farmers' Markets in Wales was once again brimming with producers offering a sumptuous selection of delicious foods to buy, eat and drink at the Festival. The focus of the Farmers' Market was firmly on artisan produce from small independent producers, many of whom brought products directly from their farms. Although the Smallholder and Garden Festival is a national event, the food producers were predominantly from Wales and the border counties.

There has been an amazing growth in farm diversification over the last few years with some of the finest foods you will find anywhere being produced. The Royal Welsh Showground, and its excellent Food Hall is the natural home to showcase what is fast becoming a jewel in the crown of Welsh food and agriculture.

The 2008 Festival included amongst the meat: lamb, mutton, beef, wild boar, venison, game, kid meat, and Charcuterie; a range of exquisite cheeses (cow, goat and ewe), Wines, cider, perry liquers and fruit wines, hand made dairy ice cream and a deluge of jams, chutneys, preserves, cakes and artisinal breads ... and the list goes on.

The market was co-ordinated by Mr Stephen Shearman M.Sc, DIC, Manager, Farmers Markets in Wales Ltd, Rose Cottage, Watery Lane, Llanishen, Chepstow, Monmouthshire NP16 6QT
