Award for Ceredigion farmer
Ceredigion farmer Hugh Tudor of Llanilar, Aberystwyth, has been made an Associate of the Royal Agricultural Societies. He has received the award particularly for his work in passing on his practical knowledge and experience of agriculture to young people especially to those belonging to Young Farmers Clubs.
Mr Tudor, whose beef and sheep enterprise in the Ystwyth Valley includes 1950 ewes and 100 suckler cows, is also in partnership with his brother on a hill farm carrying 2000 breeding ewes and 40 suckler cows.
During a long association with the YFC movement he competed successfully as a member in numerous competitions, including public speaking and drama, at club, county and national level in Wales. He is a past chairman and leader of Llanilar YFC, was President of Ceredigion YFC in 2005-06 and is vice-president of Llanddeiniol YFC.
A respected judge of livestock he has officiated at many local shows in Wales and has been selected to judge sheep at this year’s Royal Welsh Winter Fair.
Mr Tudor was chairman of Llanilar Show Society for seven years and is a member of Aberystwyth Grassland Society.
