Overseas visitors at Royal Welsh Show
A record nine hundred and seventy overseas visitors signed in at the International Pavilion at the Royal Welsh Show in July. They came from 40 countries around the world from Alaska to Australia and Norway to New Zealand which topped the list with 191 followed by 143 from Germany.
Delegates to the show from abroad included three groups from China whose main interest was sheep. Chinese minister, Counsellor Zhou Ziaoming, held talks with Welsh Assembly Government First Minister, Carwyn Jones, about lamb exports to China.
Among other visitors to the pavilion were Daryl Brehm, Agricultural Counsellor United States Department of Agriculture, and Robin Morrow, President of the Royal Ulster Agricultural Society.
Large numbers of overseas visitors from 28 countries were also at the show for the World Shearing Championships boosting the attendance to 231,346 including the highest recorded third day attendance of 70,613.
