RWAS Grassland Trophy for Gwynedd farmer

Grassland occupies a greater area than all other crops grown in the British Isles.  Wales, in particular, is noted for its lush and productive grassland and Welsh farmers are keen competitors in the annual All Wales Grassland Farming Competition run by the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society in conjunction with the Federation of Welsh Grassland Societies.

The 2009 competition has been won by a farmer from North Wales, Dylan Tudor Jones of Bryn Rhydd, Edern, Pwllheli, Gwynedd, a member of the South Caernarfonshire Grassland Society.

He was one of five finalists for the Federation’s Perpetual Trophy which will be presented to him on the first day of the Royal Welsh Show.  He will also be sponsored to attend the British Grassland Society’s annual summer meeting.

The runner-up in this year’s competition is Ken Morgan of Gorslwyd, Senni, Brecon, Powys, a member of the Brecon Grassland Society.  He will receive a cheque for £50.

The other finalists will also receive trophies.

The competition is sponsored by HSBC Bank.
