Winter Fair - 29 & 30 Nov 2010
The 20th Royal Welsh Winter Fair was officially opened by Elin Jones AM, Minister for Rural Affairs. The Fair, acclaimed the finest prime stock show in Europe, has attracted record cattle entries this year of over 350 and leading stockmen will be competing for the top prizes. | A short video of what the Winter Fair has to offer |
There were also strong entries of sheep and pigs and horse and pony entries have reached 730, the highest since 2004 and 71 more than in 2008.
According to an online survey following last year’s Winter Fair 17.5% of respondents said that shopping for Christmas gifts was one of the main reasons for their visit to the event, so with just over three weeks to go to Christmas and with some 300 trade stands to choose from shopping will be high on the agenda for many visitors.
The Fair’s popular produce and handicrafts section, flower arranging, antiques, art, fashion, cosmetics, clothing and demonstrations of various activities are all part of the two-day programme which includes a hound show and a championship status poultry show (Tuesday) with around 1000 birds exhibited.
The Food Hall, providing top quality food and drink produced in Wales, was an attraction not to be missed and the event culminated Tuesday with the sale of livestock which will be attended by buyers from across the UK.
