Cododd Sir Nawdd 2008 £227,000 ar gyfer y Gymdeithas Amaethyddol Frenhinol
The retiring president of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society, North Wales farmer Trebor Edwards, and local supporters in Clwyd (Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham), featured at the 2008 Royal Welsh Show, have received the congratulations of the society’s Council on their success in raising nearly £227,000 for the Royal Welsh feature county fund. The money will go towards the construction of the proposed new Food Hall on the showground.
The four local authorities each contributed £15,000 to the fund giving it a considerable boost, said Mr Edwards, who thanked the authorities and Royal Welsh supporters in Clwyd for their generosity.
The chairman of the Council, Alun Evans, told members at their annual meeting at Llanelwedd, that the contribution by Clwyd was a magnificent effort for which the society was extremely grateful.
The chairman of the Royal Welsh board of management, David Lewis, said the society had enjoyed a successful year with three good events on the showground and this had allowed a rapid recovery from the weather-hit and loss-making situation of 2007.
“What is not clear at the moment is the effect the current downturn in the economy is likely to have on the society and its activities in 2009 and future years,” he said. “It is something we will certainly have to bear in mind and we shall have to be extra vigilant and careful in the months ahead.”
