Cosaciaid yn dychwelyd i’r Sioe Frenhinol
Cossacks horsemen from the Ukraine famed for their dexterity and courage as riders will return to Llanelwedd by popular demand for this year’s Royal Welsh Show. They will be one of the star attractions at the four-day event in a full programme of entertainment which will include (weather permitting) The Tigers, the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment Freefall Display Team.
The Cossacks are descendants of the Cossack warriors who lived in the steppelands of Southern Russia and the Ukraine from the 17th to the 18th century. Their spectacular repertoire of high speed trick riding, a test of strength and endurance for rider and mount, never fails to thrill, and they will be performing in traditional Cossack costume and will display all the skills once used in the cut and thrust of battle.
Other attractions booked for the show include the Bolddog Lings Freestyle Motorcycle Display Team, another favourite with Royal Welsh crowds, who are also returning by popular request and who will perform on each of the four days.
Main ring entertainment for this year will include a musical display by the Flint and Denbigh Hunt Pony Club, Royal Welsh Mounted Games (invitation European championships) on Monday and Tuesday of show week, Pony Club Mounted Games (Wednesday and Thursday), Harness Trotting (Tuesday and Thursday) and the Inter Hunt Team Relay (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday).
Other events featured in the main ring will include parades of hounds and a vintage machinery display by the Flintshire Vintage and Classic Tractor Club. Ye Old Redtail Falconry Display, Meirion Owen and the Quack Pack, and the Royal Welsh Lady Ambassador and John Parker and the Royal Mail Coach will also be appearing.
The Regimental Band of the Royal Welsh will also parade in the main ring and a full programme of musical entertainment will be given in the showground’s bandstand with a mix of regular and new performers.
