Cystadleuaeth newydd da dofednod wedi’u glanhau i Ffair Aeaf Sioe Frenhinol Cymru

A competition for the best dressed poultry similar to those held at traditional Christmas markets up and down the country will be featured for the first time at the Royal Welsh Winter Fair.

Eight classes have been scheduled for the new competition and £240 in prize money will go to the winners.  The classes include two for turkeys, one for birds weighing less then 16lbs and one for turkeys of 16lbs or over, two classes for dressed chickens (under 8lbs and 8lbs and over) and classes for dressed geese and ducks.  The remaining two classes are for a pair of dressed pheasants and a pair of any other game birds.

First prize winners in each of the classes will receive prizes of £15 while £10 will go to the second placed competitors and £5 to the third.  There will also be an overall championship award for the winning bird whose exhibitor will receive a piece of Welsh Royal Crystal.  The competition will be judged by Rob & Sheila Rattray of New Cross, Aberystwyth.

Entries will be taken at the Carcass Hall on the Royal Welsh showground on the day of the competition, Monday, November 28, before judging begins at 10am and the birds will be sold by auction later in the day starting at 4pm.

The two day Winter Fair takes place on Monday and Tuesday, November 28 and 29.
