Surprise Prize for Winter Fair Visitor
Mrs Susan Cole of Clos Tyclyd, Cardiff, a visitor to last year’s Winter Fair at Llanelwedd, Builth Wells, has received a New Year’s gift from the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society.
Mrs Cole is the lucky winner of a competition run jointly by the society and HSBC, a main sponsor of the Winter Fair. Her prize is a family ticket for admission to each of the three main Royal Welsh events in 2008 – the Smallholder and Garden Festival in May, the Royal Welsh Show in July and the Winter Fair in December.
To compete for the prize visitors were invited to complete a simple questionnaire handed out at the Fair which they later deposited in collection boxes at the entrances and on the HSBC stand.
The winning ticket was drawn on behalf of the competitors by the chairman of the Royal Welsh board of management, Mr David Lewis.
Mrs Cole, who works in administration for the United Reform Church, has attended all three Royal Welsh events in the past and is looking forward to visiting them all again this year.
“I can’t believe I’m the lucky winner,” she said. “I’ve never won anything before.”
Nigel Davies, HSBC Regional Agricultural Manager for Wales and the Marches, said the competition had attracted a large number of entries and generated a great deal of interest at the HSBC stand.
“Congratulations to Mrs Cole. I’m certain she will thoroughly enjoy visiting all this year’s events at Llanelwedd.”
